Story
Hello all,
My name is Tristan. I’m 15 years old and a sophomore at Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz, California. I created Runners for Change, a youth fundraising group comprised of high school students in Santa Cruz county. We fundraise for causes we feel passionate about and this year we are fundraising for America SCORES Bay Area, a local nonprofit organization.
America SCORES supports low income communities throughout the Bay Area including Watsonville in Santa Cruz county. They are inspiring students to live healthier lives, and to have the confidence to make a difference in their community. They offer after school soccer programs, creative writing, and community service opportunities to kids who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to participate in these activities. We are fundraising for America SCORES because we know how important these activities are. We all play soccer and know how beneficial it is to your physical and mental development. It’s hard to imagine not having the opportunity to participate in these after school activities, but that is the sad truth for so many kids throughout the Bay Area. America SCORES Bay Area is relying on donors like you to help them enrich the lives of these kids throughout our community.

America SCORES Bay Area proudly provides over 5000 children in under served communities at 90 Bay Area low-income elementary and middle schools out-of-school time programming. Programming includes soccer, poetry, and service learning. SCORES plans continued growth of 20% per year. The driving passion is to provide more support and opportunities to children who need it and can benefit the most. VISION- SCORES believes all kids should experience joy, a sense of belonging, and be well-prepared to navigate the future. SCORES believes in a Bay Area rich with meaningful opportunities for all children: teams to play on, outlets for creative and physical expression, and pathways to develop their voices. MISSION- America SCORES empowers its “poet-athletes” to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged and collaborative students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.
